Welcome to Ponderosa Motel

The Ponderosa Motel, nestled along historic Route 66 in Moriarty, New Mexico, offers travelers a genuine glimpse into the charm of classic American motor inns. With a solid 4.2-star rating, this motel bridges nostalgia with comfort, inviting guests to experience the warmth and simplicity reminiscent of a bygone era.

Guests often remark on the spacious, impeccably clean rooms that feel both cozy and welcoming. The sizable accommodations, featuring essential amenities like a refrigerator and microwave, provide practical convenience without unnecessary frills. This blend of old-fashioned character and modern cleanliness crafts a unique stay that resonates with those seeking authenticity over extravagance.

The motel’s quiet and safe atmosphere makes it an ideal resting spot for travelers exploring the scenic landscapes of New Mexico or tracing the iconic Route 66. Friendly and courteous staff add a personal touch, making each visitor feel valued and at ease.

While the Ponderosa Motel does not offer a pool, restaurant, or fitness center, it compensates with free Wi-Fi and ample parking right in front of each room, highlighting ease and accessibility. Its modest pricing aligns well with the value provided, although some guests note that the pricing feels slightly elevated given the motel’s vintage nature and limited amenities.

Minor drawbacks include occasional encounters with local wildlife such as spiders and older heating units that may not always align with modern standards. Yet, these details seem almost part of the motel’s authentic narrative—emphasizing its roots rather than detracting from the experience.

For those seeking a quiet, kid-friendly lodging immersed in history and simplicity, the Ponderosa Motel stands out as a compelling choice. It is a place where the stories of the past linger in the halls, and where guests can rest thoroughly before continuing their journey along America’s Mother Road.

Old fashioned and a bit high priced for its age and lack of amenities. Appreciated the room was huge, clean and cozy. Hate to mention but there were some spiders, we think cause the weather was changing so they wanted in, so not sure if thats the norm.

Overall great experience! Rooms were spacious and clean! The gentleman my wife interacted with to check in was incredibly courteous and friendly. Pricing was reasonable. Only two complaints: 1) Thankfully it rained when we arrived and it cooled down outside from 100F to 70F because our room was being heated before our arrival by the older heating unit pilot light (?) thing, and our window AC unit froze over and stopped working in the middle of the night. 2) The towels were sized for children. Not a big deal. Overall, with the rain saving us from the heat, was a great experience and we will stay again.

Friendly, clean and moderately priced. The room had a good sized fridge and a microwave. Bed was comfortable. I know this because I slept through the night and no back pain. :-)

I stayed here for a week - it was quiet, safe, and all the folks I met were friendly. It's not the most up-to-date motel, but it was exceptionally clean. Well worth the price for me!

A taste of yesterday without dealing with the appearance of age. A well kept and restored motor inn with large rooms like you won't see in most motels. If you want to experience what your parents and grandparents did, visiting old route 66 and the famous motor inn's, this is a great experience. Safe and quiet parking, parking right in front of your room with delightful and loving owners you would happily call friends. I've never felt so safe and content with a motel stay as I have here. And yes plenty of truck parking both in front and empty lot to the side and all are welcome. You must experience this motor inn style.
